First-ever civilian spacewalk success... 'Polaris Dawn' team returns to Earth

Reached an altitude of 1400 km

The 'Polaris Dawn' team, which carried out the first-ever civilian spacewalk mission, successfully completed a five-day spaceflight and safely returned to Earth.

Foreign media such as AP and AFP reported on the 15th (local time) that SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft carrying the four members safely splashed down in the waters off Florida, USA, that morning.

Polaris Dawn embarked on the spaceflight aboard Dragon on the 10th. It is a private spaceflight project led by billionaire Jared Isaacman.

Dragon orbited Earth more than six times in an elliptical orbit until the 11th, reaching an altitude of up to 1,400 km. This is three times higher than the orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) and the highest point humanity has reached since the Apollo lunar missions in 1972.

On the 12th, Isaacman and SpaceX engineer Sarah Gillis successfully conducted the first-ever spacewalk by civilians. This was the first time in history that civilians performed a spacewalk.

Gillis created a special moment by playing the background music of the movie 'Star Wars' on a violin in space and recording the performance to transmit it back to Earth.
