On the 14th (local time) at the 'Congressional Black Caucus (CBC)' event held in Washington DC, Vice President Harris said, "Everyone here knows that the CBC has served as the conscience of Congress and our country for over half a century," adding, "The United States relies not only on conscience but also on the vision of the nation from the leaders present here." She continued, "The CBC has always had a vision for the future of our country," emphasizing, "It is a future that fulfills America's promise of freedom, opportunity, and justice for all, not just some."

She went on to say, "Today, that vision, our vision, is under tremendous threat," and argued, "While we strive and fight to lead our country toward a brighter future, Donald Trump and his extreme allies are trying to regress our nation." She added, "I believe America is ready to leave behind the politics of division and hate, and to do so, our country relies on the leaders present here."

Founded in 1971, the CBC is a group of Black members of the federal Senate and House of Representatives. The current 118th Congress has the largest membership ever, with 60 members. Notably, among Democratic House members, nearly one-quarter belong to the CBC, including House Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

At the event, President Joe Biden spoke first and then introduced Vice President Harris to the stage. President Biden said, "You have always had my back, and I will never forget that," adding, "Thanks to the support of Black voters in the 2020 election, we were able to defeat former President Trump." He continued, "Today, life is better than it was four years ago," and stated, "A big reason for that is proudly having the most Black members in Congress in American history."

President Biden criticized former President Trump and Senate candidate J.D. Vance for spreading rumors about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, fueling anti-immigrant sentiment. Biden said, "Even now, his running mate (Vance) is attacking Haitian Americans in Ohio. That is wrong and must stop," emphasizing, "Every president must reject hate in America, not incite it."

Before the event, Vice President Harris hosted a fundraising event at the Hilton Hotel in Washington DC. Ticket prices ranged from $250 to $250,000, and those who donated over $25 million could take a photo with Vice President Harris.
