At Red Road, Enjoy Korean Traditional Busking, Samulnori, and Traditional Experiences
Daniel Lindemann Music Performance Held at Mapo Art Center Outdoor Plaza
Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) introduces various performances and experience programs that families, friends, and couples can enjoy together during the Chuseok holiday.
On September 16th, from 3 PM to 8 PM, the "2024 Hangawi Hanmadang" will be held at the Hongdae Red Road R1~R2 Busking Zone.
This event is hosted by the Walkable Street Merchants Association to revitalize the Hongdae commercial district, featuring diverse programs such as traditional games, gugak (Korean traditional music) performances, and hanbok experience.
From 3 PM to 6 PM, participants can experience traditional games like Tuho and Jegichagi, followed by gugak performances starting at 6 PM. Four gugak busker teams will take the stage to present the beauty of Korean traditional music.
Additionally, from 3 PM to 8 PM, various traditional costume experience booths will be operated, allowing participants to wear hanbok and create lasting memories.
Along with this, a Samulnori performance to enhance the festive mood of Chuseok is also prepared. On September 15th and 18th, two Samulnori parades will take place on the Red Road.
On the 15th at 2 PM, the Seogang-dong Samulnori team will parade from R6 to R1, showcasing lively Samulnori, and on the 18th at 3 PM, the Mangwon 2-dong Haeoreum Arts Group will parade from R1 to R6. The energetic movements and dynamic sounds of the Samulnori troupe will fill the Red Road.
At the Red Road R2 Busking Zone, busking performances will be held daily throughout the Chuseok holiday. From September 14th to 18th, different buskers with unique charms will take the stage each day.
In particular, on the 15th at 1 PM, a busking performance by popular singer Cleo will be held.
Meanwhile, on September 14th at 3 PM, a special piano concert by broadcaster Daniel Lindemann will take place at the outdoor plaza of the Mapo Art Center.
Daniel Lindemann will revive a long-neglected piano and perform familiar pop songs such as Bill Withers’ "Just the Two of Us," Stevie Wonder’s "Summer Soft," and Harold Arlen’s "Over the Rainbow," as well as his own compositions.
This concert is free of charge, and in addition to the performance, art workshops, outdoor sports lectures, and eco-friendly events will be held to provide visitors with various enjoyable activities.
