Gijang County in Busan is holding a naming contest for its key tourism development project, "Gijang Doyechon Tourist Site," until the 27th.

Busan Gijang-gun Seeks New Name for 'Gijang Doyechon Tourist Site' Gijang Ceramic Village Tourist Attraction Naming Contest Poster.

The contest aims to increase nationwide interest and excitement for the film and video complex cultural space and children's experiential tourist facilities being established in Gijang Doyechon, and to select a name befitting the status of these facilities so that they can become new landmark tourist attractions and revitalize local tourism.

The contest, which runs until September 27, seeks original and creative names that reflect the spatial characteristics and significance of the main facilities at the Gijang Doyechon Tourist Site (such as Busan Gijang Film Studio, Andersen Village, Fairy Tale Village, etc.).

Anyone interested in Gijang County can participate, and up to three entries per person are allowed. To submit, download the application form from the Gijang County website and submit it online (County website > Electronic Civil Service > Resident Participation > Gijang Doyechon Tourist Site Naming Contest > Submit application form, etc.). For more details about the contest, please contact the Gijang County Tourism Promotion Division.

The county will review the submissions based on the following criteria: ▲Purpose (names that reflect the characteristics and meaning of the facilities built or planned within Gijang Doyechon) ▲Originality (unique, creative, and approachable names) ▲Popularity (names that are easy to say and remember). Final selections will be made for entries that have value as tourism landmarks for Gijang County.

The final winners will be announced on October 18, and the results will be individually notified and posted on the Gijang County website. The selected entries will receive the following awards: ▲Grand Prize (1 person) 500,000 KRW ▲Excellence Prize (2 people) 300,000 KRW each ▲Encouragement Prize (3 people) 200,000 KRW each.

County Mayor Jeong Jongbok said, "This contest will be an opportunity for Gijang Doyechon to gain a new name and become a representative landmark tourist destination in the southeastern region," and added, "We ask for the interest and participation of not only residents but also many people who love Gijang."

The Gijang Doyechon Tourist Site is a large-scale tourism development project aiming to create a theme-based tourist site centered on culture, tourism, and experiences. The county has invested a total project cost of 99 billion KRW, and the project has been underway from 2007 to 2030.

With its outstanding natural environment as a backdrop, the site features Andersen Theater, Andersen Fairy Tale Village, and Theme Forest, making it a popular healing spot for Busan citizens.

Furthermore, following the groundbreaking of the Busan Film Studio by the Korean Film Council in July, Busan City is also promoting the construction of the "OTT Platform Base Busan Filming Studio," making the area a rising hub for the film and video industry with the largest video infrastructure in the country.
