Dongkuk Steel Group's Dongkuk Steel, Dongkuk CM, and Intergis announced on the 13th that they delivered living support funds and gifts to residents near their business sites ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
Since 1994, Dongkuk Steel Group has been giving living support funds or daily necessities every Lunar New Year and Chuseok in cooperation with welfare centers to give back to the local communities that have been the foundation of the company's growth for over 30 years. Despite the company's split in June last year, these activities have continued.
Dongkuk Steel's Incheon Plant conducted volunteer activities over two days on the 11th and 12th. On the 11th, they delivered 200 bags of rice to a total of eight free meal centers and senior citizen centers near the plant. On the 12th, at the Incheon Dong-gu Office, they held a 'Living Support Fund and Daily Necessities Delivery Ceremony' and provided 20 million KRW in support funds and 80 holiday gift sets to support elderly living alone and low-income residents near the plant.
Dongkuk Steel's Pohang Plant held a 'Love Goods Delivery Ceremony' at the Daesong-myeon Office on the 11th and donated 150 holiday gift sets for neighbors in Daesong-myeon near the plant. On the 13th, they donated 10 million KRW in scholarships to the Pohang City Scholarship Foundation. The scholarships will be used in cooperation with the Pohang City Scholarship Foundation to support high school and university students in Pohang who need financial assistance.
Dongkuk Steel's Dangjin Plant held a 'Chuseok Living Support Fund Delivery Ceremony' on the 11th at the Hanjin 1-ri and Hanjin 2-ri village halls near the plant, delivering 7.5 million KRW in living support funds and gift sets to about 30 elderly households in the villages, and also reserved a nearby restaurant to provide lunch.
Dongkuk CM's Busan Plant donated 10 million KRW in living support funds and 100 bags of rice at the 'Living Support Fund Delivery Ceremony and Love Rice Sharing Event' held on the 9th at the Gamman Comprehensive Social Welfare Center. The support funds and love rice will be delivered to underprivileged elderly living alone and disadvantaged neighbors residing in Gamman 1-dong and Gamman 2-dong near the plant.
Logistics affiliate Intergis held the 'Chuseok Sharing Event with Intergis' on the 10th at the Busan Jung-gu Comprehensive Welfare Center and delivered 5 million KRW in donations raised through a matching grant. The matching grant is a method where the company participates by matching donations voluntarily collected by employees. The Busan Jung-gu Comprehensive Welfare Center plans to use the Intergis sponsorship to deliver holiday packages containing songpyeon and fruits to 150 low-income households.
Dongkuk Steel Group plans to continue reviewing social contribution plans that reflect local characteristics, including living support funds, centered on each business site.
