Handonghun "I Proposed the Composition... Just Listen to Me"
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, said on the 13th regarding the ruling-opposition-government-healthcare consultative body to resolve the medical crisis, "I appeal to meet quickly with no preconditions or agenda restrictions, thinking only of the health and lives of the people."
Han made these remarks after finishing lunchbox volunteer work at the Sangnok Regional Child Welfare Complex in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, and meeting with reporters.
Earlier, Han decided to provide lunchboxes worth 50 million won to children suffering from food insecurity instead of sending gifts to various figures for this Chuseok holiday. Han and others personally prepared and delivered the lunchboxes.
Han also said, "The government is not saying they will limit the agenda themselves," and added, "Since I am the one proposing it, you just need to listen to me." He emphasized, "The agenda is only the health and lives of the people, and there are no preconditions or agenda restrictions."
This is interpreted as a statement to prevent the medical community from becoming skeptical about participating in the consultative body after the government expressed reluctance to open the postponement of the increase in medical school quotas for the 2025 academic year as an agenda item.
Han said, "I am directly communicating with key organizations in the medical community. I understand there are various concerns, but I know preparations are being made for a decision," and added, "I will continue to persuade them and hope that we can make a good decision and start resolving this situation together."
Regarding the deadline for launching the consultative body, Han responded, "Setting a deadline in advance does not seem to help the start of the ruling-opposition-government-healthcare consultative body much."
Regarding the Democratic Party's call for the introduction of a 'Kim Geon-hee special prosecutor' following the guilty verdict in the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case involving the 'money master (錢主),' Han said, "It's the same old talk," and stated, "It is a matter that will proceed according to the system anyway."
