Singer Noel Gallagher Plans Manchester City FC Uniform
Deep Connection with Band 'Oasis' Debut Album
Noel Gallagher (57), the world-renowned singer who proudly calls himself a 'lifelong fan' of English Premier League club Manchester City FC (Man City), has earned the honor of personally designing the club's new uniform.
On the 12th (local time), Man City's official Instagram account posted photos of the new uniform shirt designed by Gallagher. Gallagher also modeled the shirt, which features the Puma logo, the club's official apparel maker, on one side and the Man City logo on the other.
The shirt's design was inspired by the cover of his 1994 debut album, Definitely Maybe. This album is the debut release of the band Oasis, of which Noel Gallagher was a member, and is considered one of the landmark albums in 1990s British popular music.

Now in his 50s, Gallagher has been a passionate Man City fan since his days as the leader of Oasis. The British broadcaster BBC described him as having "supported City for 50 years" and reported that "when Puma, Man City's exclusive uniform manufacturer, proposed the collaboration, Gallagher agreed within just five seconds."
Gallagher himself expressed gratitude, calling this collaboration a "proper honour." He said, "If I could go back to my 16-year-old self and say, 'In 40 years, you'll be designing the Man City uniform,' I wonder how I'd react. Probably with a 'What?'" He shared his disbelief at the opportunity.
He also emphasized his 'design philosophy,' stating, "The most important thing when fans see the club's representative is that they have to look cool."
The official name of the uniform is Definitely City, highlighting its connection to Oasis's debut album. Puma announced that players will wear this uniform during Man City's European away matches.
Meanwhile, Gallagher rose to stardom after debuting with Definitely Maybe in 1994. Oasis released several acclaimed albums afterward and became a representative band of the 1990s British pop culture known as 'Britpop.' Their rivalry with another popular band of the time, Blur, is also well-known.
However, behind the seemingly successful exterior, tensions were growing within the band. At the center was Noel's brother and Oasis's lead vocalist, Liam Gallagher. Eventually, unable to tolerate each other, the two announced the band's breakup in 2009. After about 15 years of avoiding each other, the brothers dramatically reconciled on the 27th of last month, announcing the band's reunion and a world tour, which was widely covered by the media.
Gallagher told the BBC, "I think our debut album has never lost its inspiration. It's like a snapshot showing who we were and how great we were back then. Since that has now led to the club uniform, our legacy continues to live on."
