Gyeongdong Market is the largest herbal medicine market in Korea and is a place frequently visited by Ambassador Schmidt. There are also Vietnamese merchant stores within the market, which prompted the visit. In particular, since his appointment to Korea, Ambassador Schmidt has often visited traditional markets and has earned the nickname "Market Ambassador." Ambassador Vu Ho is also known to have a strong interest in Korean traditional markets where many Vietnamese merchants are active.
Minister Oh said, "The September Together Festival, a nationwide consumer festival, was held overseas for the first time with an opening event in Hanoi, Vietnam. I hope that excellent Korean SME products will become known not only in Vietnam but throughout Asia and even Europe and the world." He added, "I hope that continuous exchange and cooperation with Vietnam and Germany, important economic cooperation partners of the Republic of Korea, will contribute to the economic development of the three countries."
Minister Oh continued, "With the largest-ever discount and expanded usage locations for Onnuri gift certificates, as well as various events such as cultural performances, experiential activities, and night markets held during the Together Festival period in traditional markets, I hope many people will visit nearby markets during the Chuseok holiday to further revitalize our traditional markets." He added, "Please continue to show affection and support for our K-Traditional Markets until the day when our traditional markets and their products become famous among foreigners visiting Korea and become world-renowned attractions."
