Kakao Mobility announced on the 13th that it has revealed how to use Kakao Navi, including information on free parking lots open during Chuseok and preferred route options. An emergency response system has also been established to provide stable navigation services.
Users can easily check information on nearby free public parking lots by searching for 'Chuseok free parking lot' in the Kakao Navi application and receive directions all at once.
For drivers who find it burdensome to be guided on unfamiliar roads amid traffic congestion, they can travel more comfortably by selecting preferred routes through the 'Previously taken route' or 'Frequently taken route' options. When users enter a departure or destination point they have driven before in Kakao Navi, they can receive recommendations for previously taken or frequently taken routes. They can also compare route options such as 'Recommended route,' 'Toll-free road,' 'Minimum time,' and 'Main road priority,' along with estimated time, distance, and toll fees.
For drivers whose eyes are fatigued from long hours of driving, the 'High Visibility Mode' is also useful. This feature, especially helpful for low-vision users and elderly drivers, can be used by selecting High Visibility Mode in the screen settings after searching for a destination and starting navigation.
Additionally, Kakao Navi provides future traffic information based on big data and traffic prediction algorithms. After searching for a destination, users can click the clock icon at the top left to change the departure time in advance and check the estimated travel time according to the departure time.
Lee Seung-won, head of the Navi Service Team at Kakao Mobility, stated, “To prepare for the surge in traffic during the Chuseok holiday, we are responding to the increase in real-time traffic on Kakao Navi by automatically adding servers using 'HPA (Horizontal Pod Autoscaling)' technology, and we are operating an emergency monitoring system during the holiday period. We plan to provide faster and more stable travel services to holiday travelers.”
