The Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association (President Song Pil-ho) announced on the 13th that it will provide relief funds totaling 10.194 billion KRW from public donations to 4,732 households across 13 regions nationwide affected by the heavy rains in July.

The relief funds, which serve as consolation payments to citizens affected by natural disasters, are disbursed in accordance with the "Regulations on the Management and Operation of Donations and Relief Goods" announced by the government. This support from Hope Bridge follows the revised regulations by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety last month, which doubled the payment limits for housing damage and other losses. The payment limits by damage type are as follows: 20 million KRW per bereaved family of deceased or missing persons; 10 million KRW for injuries graded 1 to 7; 5 million KRW for injuries graded 8 to 14; 10 million KRW per household for completely destroyed primary residences; 5 million KRW per household for partially destroyed primary residences; 2 million KRW per household for flooded primary residences; and 2 million KRW per household for damage to main livelihoods (agriculture, fisheries, forestry, and salt farming).

By region, the distribution is as follows: Chungnam 2,171 households, 4.675 billion KRW; Gyeonggi 961 households, 1.937 billion KRW; Jeonbuk 677 households, 1.426 billion KRW; Jeonnam 235 households, 478 million KRW; Chungbuk 207 households, 449 million KRW; Gyeongbuk 190 households, 419 million KRW; Daejeon 168 households, 543 million KRW; Incheon 63 households, 126 million KRW; Seoul 30 households, 60 million KRW; Daegu 22 households, 47 million KRW; Gyeongnam 5 households, 10 million KRW; Sejong 2 households, 22 million KRW; Gangwon 1 household, 2 million KRW. These figures include some households still undergoing local government application processes, so the final support amount may vary slightly.

Song Pil-ho, President of Hope Bridge, expressed, "We deeply respect and thank the companies, celebrities, and citizens who participated in the fundraising," adding, "We hope this support will provide a small but warm consolation to neighbors affected by the sudden heavy rains."

The relief fund support is based on damage assessments by local governments. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters establishes the disaster recovery plan, and local governments input affected household information, such as disaster victims, into the National Disaster Management System (NDMS). This data is then registered in the distribution committee’s allocation system, where the committee deliberates and approves the payments. The consolation funds provided this time include donations paid into the distribution committee by the Community Chest of Korea under the Disaster Relief Act*.
