Prepaid Meal Cards Distributed to 1,338 Children with Holiday Greeting Cards
Up to 30,000 KRW Per Person Usable at Over 2,500 Restaurants Until December 31
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is conducting the ‘Neighborhood Happiness Card’ support project for children at risk of food insecurity this Chuseok holiday.
The ‘Neighborhood Happiness Card’ project is designed to provide prepaid meal cards to children at risk of food insecurity during major holidays (Seollal and Chuseok) each year, aiming to prevent child hunger and help them enjoy a joyful holiday.
The support targets approximately 1,338 children who, as of the 2024 September Chuseok holiday, are using the child meal card (Kkum Namu Card) issued by the local community service center, receiving supplementary food support, or using group meal facilities.
The prepaid card can be used until December 31 and is accepted at about 2,500 general restaurants within Geumcheon-gu, with a limit of 30,000 KRW per person.
The restaurants where the card can be used are listed on the Geumcheon-gu website under ‘Geumcheon News,’ and any unused balance will automatically expire after December 31.
Recipients holding the Neighborhood Happiness Card (prepaid card) can use their existing cards, which will be automatically recharged, without a separate application. New applicants or those who have lost their cards can obtain a new one at their local community service center.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope the Neighborhood Happiness Card helps children spend a happy holiday with their families and friends,” and added, “We will continue to develop various projects to provide more support to children and youth in Geumcheon-gu.”
