Joint Operation of 100-Day Project by Jungnang-gu Health Center and Seoil University
Promoting Practical Changes for a Healthy Life through Systematic Obesity Management
Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is conducting the "Healthy BODY Vitality Project" in collaboration with Seoil College.
This program was established to reduce the increasing obesity rate and the associated risks of chronic diseases and complications, aiming to help residents prevent obesity and adopt healthy lifestyle habits.
In August, the district recruited and selected about 70 residents of Jungnang-gu aged between 20 and under 65 with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher, and held an opening ceremony on the 4th.
The program will run for approximately 100 days from August 19 to December 4, utilizing Seoil College’s gymnasium, auditorium, and cooking practice room, and will consist of both in-person and non-face-to-face activities.
The in-person program will begin in early September, with exercise prescription specialists and nutritionists providing professional information. It includes bodyweight and equipment exercise methods as well as nutrition education for improving dietary habits. Additionally, it is linked with the "Walking Club," which walks along Jungnang’s scenic walking paths by course, encouraging participation in various physical activities.
The non-face-to-face component uses the walking app "WalkOn" and the KakaoTalk channel. Various challenges will be operated and videos posted to provide exercise methods that can be easily practiced in daily life. Furthermore, the community will be utilized to support one-on-one consultations and customized physical activities for individuals and groups.
After all projects are completed, a follow-up examination will be conducted at the Public Health Center’s Metabolic Syndrome Center to confirm the final results, and a completion ceremony is scheduled for December.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “We expect this program to greatly contribute to preventing obesity and promoting health among residents,” and added, “We will continue to provide various support to help residents maintain healthy lifestyle habits consistently.”
