Book Reading at Gyeonggi Peace Plaza, Provincial Market, and Cultural Arts Performances
At Peace Plaza until the end of October... Offering a Rich Variety of Sights and Activities
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 13th that it will hold the "Gyeonggi Outdoor Library Reading Culture Festa" at Gyeonggi Peace Square inside the northern government office building of Gyeonggi Provincial Government from the 20th of this month until the end of October.
The "Gyeonggi Outdoor Library Reading Culture Festa" consists of three main events: the main event "Reading at Gyeonggi Peace Square," "Cultural and Artistic Performances," and the "Residents' Market."
First, "Reading at Gyeonggi Peace Square" will be held every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM, starting from the 20th until October 26. It offers a unique outdoor library space composed of camping chairs, pallet tables, and specially made bookshelves.
The "Cultural and Artistic Performances" will take place every Saturday from 4 PM to 6 PM, from the 21st until October 26. A total of 18 teams, including representative art groups from cities and counties, classical music, Korean traditional music (gugak), theater, and dance, will showcase various performances.
The "Residents' Market" will operate every Saturday and Sunday from 1 PM to 6 PM, from the 21st to the 29th. It features booths selling products from small business owners and youth enterprises in northern Gyeonggi, agricultural and specialty products, and a flea market for used goods from northern Gyeonggi residents. Magic shows and performances will also be held.
In particular, on the 28th, all three events?"Reading at Gyeonggi Peace Square," "Cultural and Artistic Performances," and "Residents' Market"?will be held simultaneously. On that day, special events such as animated story reading, a reading quiz competition, and woodworking experience booths will be separately held in the outdoor library space of "Reading at Gyeonggi Peace Square."
Byun Sang-gi, Administrative Management Officer of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Through this Gyeonggi Outdoor Library Festa, we aim to provide residents with a reading and relaxation space in the city." He added, "Especially starting with the large-scale special event on the 28th, we hope the Gyeonggi Outdoor Library will become widely known among residents and establish itself as a landmark in northern Gyeonggi."
