As the Chuseok holiday extends for five days this year, it is important to be informed about medical information in advance in case of illness.
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare on the 14th, about 510 emergency rooms nationwide will operate 24 hours a day during the Chuseok holiday, just as usual, to treat emergency patients. In addition, about 200 public medical institutions such as public health centers, around 4,000 hospitals and clinics, and about 5,200 pharmacies will be open. However, the government and the medical community have urged mild patients or chronic disease patients to yield emergency rooms to severe and emergency patients and to visit primary medical institutions that are open during the holiday.
Information on hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and other facilities open during the Chuseok holiday can be checked through the emergency medical portal and applications (apps). By searching for 'Myeongjeol Byeongwon' (Holiday Hospital) on major portals such as Naver and Daum, the emergency medical portal appears at the top, making it easy to access. The app shows a map of nearby hospitals and clinics that are open based on the user's location. You can also call the Health and Welfare Call Center (129), the Emergency Situation Management Center (119), or the City/Province Call Center (120) for guidance.
It is also necessary to be cautious about preventing infectious diseases during the holiday. Since many people gather to share food or eat stored food after cooking, the risk of food poisoning and other incidents may increase.
As outdoor activities such as outings and ancestral rites increase, it is important to be careful of infectious diseases transmitted by ticks or rodents. The best prevention against tick-borne infectious diseases is to avoid tick bites by wearing long-sleeved clothes and applying repellents. When working outdoors, wearing waterproof gloves and work clothes is recommended to prevent rodent-borne infectious diseases.
