'47% vs 42%' Harris Expands Poll Lead Over Trump After TV Debate

Harris Expands Lead in Approval Rating from 4%P to 5%P

In the U.S. presidential debate held on the 10th (local time), Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris, who was evaluated as the 'clear winner,' widened the gap in support ratings against Republican candidate former President Donald Trump in a poll conducted immediately after the debate.

According to a poll conducted by Reuters in collaboration with Ipsos from the 11th to 12th, surveying 1,405 registered voters nationwide, Vice President Harris recorded a support rate of 47%, leading former President Trump, who had 42%, by 5 percentage points (margin of error ±3 percentage points).


In a survey conducted at the end of last month, Vice President Harris had 45% support and former President Trump had 41%, showing a 4 percentage point gap, which widened by 1 percentage point after the debate.


Voters evaluated that Vice President Harris won the first TV debate between the two candidates on the 10th. According to the Reuters-Ipsos poll, 53% of respondents said Harris won. In contrast, only 24% said former President Trump won, less than half.


Meanwhile, 52% of respondents said former President Trump appeared flustered and not sharp during the debate. Only 21% gave the same evaluation to Vice President Harris.


52% of respondents believed Vice President Harris appeared to have higher moral integrity. Only 29% said former President Trump was morally superior.


Vice President Harris's clear victory evaluation was also evident among party supporters. 91% of Democratic voters said Harris won the TV debate, while only 53% of Republican voters said former President Trump won. Among Republican voters, 31% said neither candidate won, and 14% said Vice President Harris showed superiority over former President Trump in the debate.
