Kim Han-gil, Chairman of the National Integration Committee, said on the 12th, "We aim to prepare tangible policy alternatives, not just vague talk," adding, "As these small achievements accumulate, they will ultimately become each step toward national integration."
In his congratulatory speech at the '1st Korea Social Value Festa' held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Kim emphasized, "We should face the conflicts and divisions present throughout our society and work on concrete solutions one by one."
Kim stated, "In previous administrations, there were committees with similar names under the president, like the National Integration Committee, but as the administrations ended, they quietly closed without clear results. I did not want that to happen."
He continued, "I am proud that the Integration Committee has worked diligently. When I asked someone to count the official meetings over the past two years, there were about 1,450. This means that, excluding holidays and normal days off, we held 3 to 4 different types of meetings every single day."
Kim added, "As a result, we addressed over 30 tasks and proposed more than 530 policy alternatives to the government, of which 77% were reflected in the policies of various ministries."
The event, hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was attended by over 200 organizations from various sectors including companies pursuing social values, government, academia, and civil society.
Kim said, "While reviewing the materials related to this Social Value Festa, I was surprised by how substantial and solid the content was," adding, "I would like to commend Chairman Chey Tae-won and all those involved for their efforts, and I expect that these efforts will present excellent social values to the public."
