Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju City, Inspects Construction Status of GTX-A Unjeong Jungang Station Transfer Center Paju Mayor Kim Kyung-il is inspecting the construction status by visiting the vehicle depot of the Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX) Line A and the Woonjeong Central Station transfer center site on the 12th.

Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju City, visited the site of the vehicle depot and the Woonjeong Central Station transfer center of the Greater Seoul Metropolitan Area Express Train (GTX) Line A on the 12th to inspect the construction status of the vehicle depot and the GTX-A Woonjeong Central Station transfer center.

Attending the site visit were Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju City, Yoon Hoo-duk, Member of the National Assembly, members of the Gyeonggi Province and Paju City councils, and officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).

Currently, 14 train sets have been delivered to the GTX-A Woonjeong vehicle depot, and vehicle test runs are underway. Construction of the transfer center interior and the underground road is also in full progress.

As the opening of the GTX-A line approaches at the end of December, Paju City has been holding inspection meetings chaired by Mayor Kim Kyung-il since the second half of last year to prepare for the GTX opening. These meetings have focused on building the transfer center, reorganizing bus routes centered on the GTX Woonjeong Central Station, and devising measures to improve traffic congestion, ensuring that citizens do not experience inconvenience by pre-inspecting project progress and preparing improvement plans.

The GTX-A line project was initiated to alleviate traffic congestion in the metropolitan area and reduce the commuting burden for long-distance commuters. Once all construction is completed and the railway opens, travel from Paju to Seoul Station will be possible within 20 minutes.

Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City stated, “Please make every effort to ensure that the GTX-A line opens within this year,” adding, “As the opening of the GTX-A line is expected to bring significant changes to Paju City, the city will also do its best to ensure that citizens can use it without inconvenience.”
