Purchased Ritual Supplies with Onnuri Gift Certificates
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that on the 11th, more than 30 people including Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, Jung In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang, Kim Tae-gyun, Chairman of the Jeollanam-do Council, and Han Seung-joo, President of the Jeonnam Merchants Association, visited the Gwangyang 5-Day Market and participated in a shopping event ahead of the Chuseok peak season.
This market visit event was part of the governor’s on-site communication efforts to revitalize traditional markets, aimed at encouraging residents to use traditional markets and invigorating market merchants ahead of Chuseok.

Governor Kim Young-rok of Jeollanam-do and Mayor Jung In-hwa of Gwangyang purchased ritual items throughout the market using Onnuri gift certificates. Market merchants shared their difficulties, saying they are facing double hardships due to high prices and decreased sales, and Governor Kim and Mayor Jung listened attentively to the voices from the field.
Governor Kim Young-rok emphasized the need to promote traditional markets, saying, “I ask the residents to actively use traditional markets where they can feel warm kindness and affection this Chuseok, and to actively participate in revitalizing the local economy.”
Mayor Jung In-hwa of Gwangyang pledged, “We will consider and strive in various ways to revitalize traditional markets so that local residents and merchants can smile together.”
Meanwhile, all the items purchased during the shopping event were donated to the Gwangyang City Love Sharing Welfare Foundation for neighbors in need within the local community.
