Woori Bank announced on the 12th that it has newly opened branches in Pune and Ahmedabad as forward bases for its localization strategy in the India region. With this, Woori Bank's branches in India have increased to five, including the existing branches in Chennai, Gurgaon, and Mumbai.
The Pune branch is located in Maharashtra, in the central part of India. This branch provides operating funds to Korean companies and local businesses for business expansion, tailored to the characteristics of various industries.
The industrial complexes in Maharashtra are densely populated with various industries such as manufacturing, IT, automotive, and biotech, and the region is emerging as an economic hub with Hyundai Motor Group conducting a large-scale new factory project.
The Ahmedabad branch is located in Gujarat in western India and provides import-export financial services for local small and medium-sized enterprises. The strategy is to offer specialized financial solutions in logistics and shipping hubs, including India's largest petrochemical complex and the Kandla and Mundra ports, which rank first in India's export share.
Woori Bank supports many domestic companies such as Samsung, Hyundai Motor, LG, and POSCO in the India region, and through the opening of the Pune and Ahmedabad branches, plans to expand its financial network not only in India but throughout Asia by actively conducting business with local companies.
A Woori Bank official said, “The additional openings of the Pune and Ahmedabad branches are an important opportunity to strengthen Woori Bank's strategic position in the Indian market and to closely cooperate with local companies,” adding, “We will continue to provide differentiated customer-centric financial services in various regions to further enhance our competitiveness in the international financial market.”
