Qualified for Procore Championship through Monday Qualifier
Secured 2nd PGA Tour win at this event in 2014
"Well prepared. Current condition is good"
Baesangmun is dedicating himself to the PGA Tour.
At a press conference for the PGA Tour's Procore Championship (total prize money $6 million) held on the 11th (local time) at Silverado Resort North Course (par 72, 7,123 yards) in Napa, California, USA, he said, "I vividly remember winning this tournament 10 years ago. The course hasn't changed much." He achieved his second PGA Tour victory at this tournament, which was held under the name Price.com Open at Silverado Resort North Course in 2014.
Baesangmun participated twice in Korean tournaments, finishing tied for 2nd at the 67th KPGA Championship in June and tied for 10th at the Kolon 66th Korean Open. There was some talk about him playing more domestic tournaments. He stated, "It was an opportunity to refresh the atmosphere. I have no plans to participate in Korean tournaments this year, but I intend to play about twice on the Asian Tour. If possible, I want to play more tournaments in the United States."
He introduced his strategy for tackling this tournament's course. "When I come to the course, good memories and the same feelings come to mind. It's a course that makes me feel good. The course is short. However, the fairways are narrow and the greens are small. If you miss the fairway, it’s difficult to get the ball onto the small greens. If you miss the green, the severe contours around the green make it hard to save par. Keeping the ball on the fairway is a priority, and accurate iron shots are necessary."
Baesangmun is going through a difficult period. He also had to pass through the Monday qualifier to enter this tournament. He finished tied for 3rd and received one of the four available spots. This will be his first PGA Tour event in nearly two months since the Barracuda Championship in July. "My condition is good. I have prepared well," he showed his determination to return to the American stage after a long time.
