Repeated Crimes Committed While Roaming Convenience Stores and Commercial Buildings
A man in his 40s who stole goods worth approximately 11 million won from convenience stores and commercial establishments around Seocho-gu and Dongjak-gu in Seoul has been sent to prosecution in custody.
On the 12th, the Bangbae Police Station in Seoul announced that Mr. A was arrested on charges of habitual theft and trespassing and was sent to prosecution in custody on the 9th.
Mr. A is accused of entering convenience stores, commercial establishments, and buildings 17 times from July 31 to the 31st of last month, stealing goods worth about 11 million won. The items stolen by Mr. A include air conditioner outdoor units, alcohol from convenience stores, ladders on walls, waterproof sheets, and books in hospital lobbies.
The police confirmed through analysis of CCTV footage and multiple 112 emergency calls that the crimes were committed by the same person. Mr. A was caught in the act on the 31st of last month.
A police official stated, "Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, we are promoting special criminal activities to respond to various crimes infringing on the daily lives of ordinary citizens, and we will strictly investigate crimes such as theft and trespassing."
