"It is no different from preparing for aliens"
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, said, "It is surprising that the Democratic Party of Korea is seriously preparing for a martial law that does not even exist," in response to the Democratic Party's attempt to propose a law to prepare for martial law under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.
At the Supreme Council meeting held on the 12th in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, Han said, "The Democratic Party keeps talking about martial law. They even say they will propose a law to prepare for it," adding, "Preparing for a martial law that will never happen is no different from preparing for aliens that do not exist." He then questioned, "Who is going to impose martial law? Can Kim Min-seok, the senior Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party, do that?"
Han continued, "I am curious about why they keep making such absurd remarks," and criticized, "Are they trying to see what the limits are?" He added, "Our party’s Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won has proposed a debate with the Democratic Party’s Supreme Council member Kim. Please have a discussion together and let us hear what they are really thinking."
The Democratic Party, which continues to raise suspicions about the Yoon administration’s preparations for martial law, is reportedly pushing for an amendment to the Martial Law Act that specifies grounds for the release of National Assembly members. The amendment focuses on explicitly stating in the law that National Assembly members can be released even if they are arrested or detained during martial law situations.
