MOU with Saudi Artificial Intelligence Authority
Collaboration in AI Following Digital Twin
GIO Lee Hae-jin and Executives Fully Mobilized
Naver is partnering with the Saudi Arabian government to build an Arabic-based large language model (LLM). Following digital twin technology, this marks continued technological collaboration with Saudi Arabia in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Naver's 'Sovereign AI' is being recognized as bearing fruit in the Middle Eastern market.
On the 12th, Naver announced that it attended Saudi Arabia's leading AI conference, the 'Global AI Summit GAIN 2024,' and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) regarding this collaboration.

GAIN 2024 is a global AI conference hosted by SDAIA. It was organized to promote international cooperation and foster AI innovation across industries in line with Saudi Arabia's 'Vision 2030.'
Through the MOU, Naver and SDAIA will broadly cooperate in AI, cloud, data centers, and robotics. This includes collaboration on ▲data center-related solutions and services that SDAIA is preparing ▲cloud solutions based on these ▲building Arabic-based LLMs and developing related services ▲research and development of intelligent robots and related application services.
The event saw the full attendance of Naver’s key executives. Among them were Lee Hae-jin, Naver Global Investment Officer (GIO); Choi Soo-yeon, CEO of Naver; Chae Sun-joo, Head of External/ESG Policy at Naver; Kim Yoo-won, CEO of Naver Cloud; and Seok Sang-ok, CEO of Naver Labs.
During their visit to Saudi Arabia, the Naver delegation led by GIO Lee met with key officials from Saudi government ministries, including Majed Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing; Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; H.E. Dr. Majid AlKassabi, Minister of Commerce; and Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, Head of SDAIA.
Additionally, Kim Yoo-won, CEO of Naver Cloud, delivered a keynote speech at GAIN 2024. He emphasized the growing importance of AI sovereignty and expressed Naver’s commitment to contributing to Saudi Arabia’s new chapter in the AI era based on its unparalleled AI technological capabilities and experience.
