Gyeonggi-do Conducts Safety Inspections at Department Stores and Large Discount Stores Ahead of Chuseok Holiday... 151 Cases Corrected

The Gyeonggi-do inspection team is conducting safety inspections on multi-use buildings.

Gyeonggi Province conducted a joint public-private inspection on 14 multi-use buildings, including department stores and large discount stores expected to have concentrated crowds ahead of Chuseok, and corrected 151 cases.

From the 23rd to the 30th of last month, Gyeonggi Province carried out a joint inspection with related organizations such as the Gyeonggi Province Special Safety Inspection Team, private experts, city and county offices, and the Electric and Gas Safety Corporation, checking ▲the safety and maintenance status of facilities ▲crisis situation manuals for multi-use facilities ▲management status of fire extinguishing equipment and fire compartments ▲maintenance status of fire compartments and evacuation routes, and announced on the 12th that 151 issues were identified.

Major cases of violations include a large mart in Bucheon City where goods were displayed in front of the main entrance, and there were obstacles under the fire shutter that hindered its operation.

At a large mart in Pyeongtaek City, the backup power supply for the gas fire extinguishing room was broken, and goods were piled up in the evacuation passage, making evacuation difficult. In some marts, goods were stacked in front of indoor fire hydrants, and safety signs were insufficiently installed in fall hazard areas.

Gyeonggi Province requested corrections, on-site corrections, and improvement recommendations depending on the case. They also plan to continuously manage to eliminate risk factors and prevent safety accidents.

Kim Young-gil, head of the Gyeonggi Province Special Safety Inspection Team, said, "To prevent safety accidents in various facilities such as large sales facilities with many users, we plan to conduct safety inspections to eliminate risk factors not only during holidays like Seol and Chuseok but also during vulnerable periods such as winter." He added, "We will continue to strive to protect the lives and safety of residents through field-centered safety inspections."
