384m Connecting Dasan-dong Old Downtown and Dasan District... Expanded to 4 Lanes
Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 11th that the metropolitan traffic improvement plan reflecting the expansion project of Migeum-ro (from Binggrae Factory to Dasan Haemoro APT) was finally approved at the Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee review on the 10th.
This project involves expanding the section connecting Dasan-dong old town and Dasan district (approximately 384m) from the existing 2 lanes to 4 lanes with a width of 20m.
The city invited the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to convey residents' inconveniences caused by the narrow road and requested road expansion. Subsequently, the city proposed changes to the metropolitan traffic improvement plan for the road expansion twice.
Mayor Joo Gwang-deok requested in a meeting with Kang Hee-up, Chairman of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee, in January, “Considering the inconveniences citizens face due to traffic congestion, please promptly review and approve the amendment to the metropolitan traffic improvement plan.”
With the approval of the Metropolitan Area Wide-area Transportation Committee review, the city plans to complete the feasibility study by October, start construction in the second half of 2025, and aim for completion in 2027.
Mayor Joo Gwang-deok said, “Once the Migeum-ro expansion project is completed, the chronic traffic congestion in Dasan-dong old town will be resolved, and the traffic system of the roads connecting Dasan Jingeon and Jigeum districts will be improved overall. We expect to provide citizens with a safer and more pleasant road environment.”
