Investigation by Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation

The Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) announced on the 11th that this was confirmed through a survey conducted on the 10th at 16 traditional markets in 23 regions nationwide and 34 large retail stores, covering 24 items for a family of four. This is 1.2% (2,449 won) higher than the price eight days before last year's Chuseok.

The cost of purchasing items for the Charye table at traditional markets was 195,053 won, which was 7% cheaper than at large retail stores (209,636 won). Compared to the previous week, prices at large retail stores dropped 3.1% due to government discount support, while prices at traditional markets rose 0.2%.

By item category, fruit prices fell 4.9% compared to the previous week due to increased supply of new Singo pears and discount events at large retail stores. Livestock products such as Korean beef and pork decreased by 3.2% from the previous week, and wild products like jujubes and chestnuts, which had increased new supply, became 3.1% cheaper.

Vegetable prices rose 2.3% from the previous week due to increases in items such as spinach.

Looking at the cost of setting up the Chuseok Charye table by region, prices were lowest in the Chungcheong and Gangwon areas, which are adjacent to production areas such as highland cabbage, followed by the metropolitan area where large supply sources are concentrated. The Honam region had the highest average prices, but wild product prices were the cheapest there.
