Lotte Mart Toysrus Launches First Standalone External Store in Daegu

Daegu Hi-Mart Jukjeon Branch Opens on 3rd Floor

Lotte Mart announced on the 12th that it will open the first standalone external store of Toys "R" Us, Daegu Jukjeon Branch.

Toys "R" Us is a global toy specialty brand with more than 1,300 stores in 31 countries worldwide. In Korea, Lotte Mart has been operating Toys "R" Us since 2007, and it can be found in 41 Lotte Mart stores nationwide.

The Toys "R" Us Daegu Jukjeon Branch is a new type of store that opens a standalone external store for the first time in collaboration with Lotte Hi-Mart. It is located on the 3rd floor of Hi-Mart Jukjeon Branch near Jukjeon Station on Daegu Subway Line 2.

Toys "R" Us collaborated with Hi-Mart to open a new store to increase new customer touchpoints through Hi-Mart’s locations and commercial districts. Hi-Mart has about 320 stores nationwide, which is about three times more than Lotte Mart. They aim to improve accessibility by utilizing the fact that there are Hi-Mart stores in areas where Lotte Mart does not exist.

In the case of Daegu Metropolitan City, where the Toys "R" Us Daegu Jukjeon Branch is located, Lotte Mart only has the Daegu Yulha Branch and no stores in the western area. They plan to meet consumers in the western part of Daegu through the Toys "R" Us Daegu Jukjeon Branch opened in collaboration with Hi-Mart. The Jukjeon Branch is located in a commercial district adjacent to new apartment complexes, where the main customer base of Toys "R" Us, consumers in their 30s and 40s, mainly reside.

The Toys "R" Us Daegu Jukjeon Branch will be introduced as a specialized content store for customers’ fun and experience. It sells popular toys such as Carbot, Tomica, and Pororo, as well as popular products by category. At the same time, it features specialized stores for Sanrio Characters fancy goods, LEGO, Nintendo, and offers various content. Customer experience elements such as a slime cafe and Pok?mon Ga-Ol? game machines are also prepared.

Kye Gi-yeong, head of the Toys "R" Us division at Lotte Mart, said, "The Toys "R" Us Daegu Jukjeon Branch, introduced this time, is the first model in collaboration with Hi-Mart and will be the first step to meet the needs of customers who could not find Toys "R" Us near their residences." He added, "This is the beginning of Toys "R" Us’s effort to get closer to customers, and we will do our best to present more fun and differentiated content unique to Toys "R" Us to more customers through various types of store openings in the future."

Meanwhile, to commemorate the new opening of the Toys "R" Us Daegu Jukjeon Branch, promotions such as prize draws, shopping basket giveaways, and special discounts on popular products will be held.
