Nexon Spins Off Sub-Brand 'Mintrocket'... Expanding Development Autonomy

Nexon's sub-brand 'Mintrocket' will become an independent corporation. The intention is to expand autonomy in game development and establish a smoother global collaboration environment.

Nexon announced on the 11th that it has decided to establish Mintrocket as a corporation and appointed Hwang Jae-ho, head of Mintrocket, as the inaugural CEO.

Mintrocket is Nexon's game sub-brand created in 2022 to develop innovative games that break away from conventional development norms. The first title released last year, 'Dave the Diver,' became the first domestic single-package game to surpass 4 million cumulative sales and received the highest rating of 'Overwhelmingly Positive' on the global gaming platform Steam.

Based on these achievements, Nexon plans to strengthen development capabilities and further advance the development culture by spinning off Mintrocket, which was promoted to a headquarters in April, as a separate corporation. The new corporation will be a 100% subsidiary of Nexon Korea.

Going forward, Mintrocket plans to focus on simplifying work procedures and maintaining high autonomy as core directions, pursuing faster development of unique small-scale projects.

Mintrocket will also implement various institutional and organizational changes aligned with the organization's purpose, including a new reward system to motivate its members. The policy is to provide sufficient rewards not only for post-release achievements but also for outstanding personnel during the development process.

Appointed CEO Hwang said, "The corporate independence is a choice to create an environment that best preserves Mintrocket's identity while allowing agile responses to market conditions. I will do my best to fully focus on development with the team in this new environment to release the second and third 'Dave the Diver' titles."
