The Gyeonggi Medical Device Council Launches on the 11th... 10 Major Hospitals and Testing Institutions Participate Launch of Gyeonggi-do Medical Device Council

The 'Gyeonggi Medical Device Council,' involving medical institutions and testing organizations within the province, has been launched to foster the medical device industry in Gyeonggi-do.


On the 11th, Gyeonggi-do held the 'Gyeonggi Medical Device Council' at the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency located in Gwanggyo Technovalley, Yeongtong, Suwon, with participation from nine medical institutions and one testing organization.


The council will discuss measures to promote the medical device industry in Gyeonggi-do and carry out collaborative research, serving as a platform for mutual communication and cooperation.


The participating institutions include ▲ five tertiary general hospitals in the province (Korea University Ansan Hospital, Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital, Ajou University Medical Center, Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital) ▲ four general hospitals (Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital, Yongin Severance Hospital, Uijeongbu Eulji University Hospital, Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital) ▲ and one testing organization (Korea Testing & Research Institute for Chemical Convergence), totaling ten institutions.


The Gyeonggi Medical Device Council is notable for including major medical institutions that play a crucial role in medical device development. It will identify unmet needs in medical practice, discuss directions for medical device development, and explore ways to advance domestic medical devices, thereby deriving various support projects for medical device companies in Gyeonggi-do.


Kim Seong-beom, Director of the Bio Industry Division at Gyeonggi-do, stated, "Developing medical devices requires understanding the demands and technologies of the medical field to establish development strategies," adding, "We will support the globalization of digital medical devices and domestic medical devices to contribute to the advancement of the national medical device industry."


Meanwhile, over the past three years, Gyeonggi-do has supported 63 small and medium-sized enterprises in the medical device industry, resulting in a sales increase of 30.3 billion KRW and the creation of 147 jobs.
