KOSPI, Foreigners Sell 1 Trillion Won... Closes Lower for 7 Consecutive Trading Days

The KOSPI closed lower for the seventh consecutive trading day. Foreign investors sold a net amount exceeding 1 trillion won.

On the 11th, the KOSPI closed at 2,513.37, down 10.06 points (0.40%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, individuals and institutions bought net amounts of 904.6 billion won and 36.8 billion won, respectively. Conversely, foreign investors sold a net amount of 1.0493 trillion won.


By sector, steel and metals jumped 2.41%. In addition, telecommunications, machinery, construction, and services sectors closed slightly higher. Meanwhile, securities, insurance, and transportation equipment sectors fell more than 2%.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 64,900 won, down 1,300 won (1.96%) from the previous trading day. KB Financial Group and Shinhan Financial Group plunged more than 6%. Hyundai Motor and Kia also fell more than 3%. On the other hand, Samsung SDI surged 9.91%. LG Energy Solution rose 5.14%.


On this day in the KOSPI, two stocks including Haitron and SK Eteonics hit the upper price limit, with 345 stocks rising and 528 stocks falling without hitting the lower price limit. Sixty stocks closed unchanged.


The KOSDAQ closed at 709.42, up 3.22 points (0.46%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, foreign investors bought a net amount of 39.4 billion won. Meanwhile, individuals and institutions sold net amounts of 14.1 billion won and 25.2 billion won, respectively.


By sector, construction, general electric and electronics, and finance rose more than 1%. In contrast, distribution fell 1.05%. Other sectors such as non-metallic minerals, other services, and transportation closed slightly lower.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Alteogen closed at 306,000 won, up 1,000 won (0.33%) from the previous trading day. EcoPro BM, Enchem, and Pearl Abyss rose more than 3%. Conversely, Silicon2 fell 4.00%. Other stocks such as Ligakem Bio and Celltrion Pharm also declined more than 2%.


In the KOSDAQ, two stocks including Woojung Bio hit the upper price limit, with 659 stocks rising. Meanwhile, 894 stocks fell without hitting the lower price limit, and 118 stocks closed unchanged.
