Lecture on 'Brain Health Managed by Electronic Medicine' at the '2024 Good Brain Conference' on the 11th
Digital therapeutics and electronic medicine, which are as effective as drug treatments but unlike surgery, do not cause pain or risk of infection, are gaining attention.
On the 11th, Song Jae-jun, CEO of NewLive, gave a lecture titled "Brain Health Managed by Electronic Medicine" at the '2024 Good Brain Conference' held at The Plaza Hotel in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul.
Leading NewLive, CEO Song is also a professor of otolaryngology at Korea University Guro Hospital. He has treated numerous tinnitus patients and discovered through research that tinnitus is not simply an ear problem but is related to issues in specific brain regions. He developed a digital therapeutic method that stimulates the brain and founded the startup NewLive to create and distribute this therapeutic device.

CEO Song emphasized the importance of 'digital therapeutics' and 'electronic medicine.' Digital therapeutics refer to software-based treatments such as applications and virtual reality (VR). Electronic medicine involves treatments that apply electrical stimulation to brain nerves. NewLive developed the degenerative brain disease treatment medical device 'Soricle' and the healthcare appliance 'Hillaon.'
CEO Song explained, "Soricle is a device that stimulates the vagus nerve in the ear with sound and electricity to activate the brain," adding, "We confirmed that it improves symptoms of degenerative brain diseases such as tinnitus, anxiety, insomnia, and cognitive dysfunction."
CEO Song believes NewLive can address mental health issues of athletes. He said, "Some athletes suffer from depression or withdraw from competitions due to stress after the Olympics," and added, "To solve these problems, we developed Hillaon, and after wearing it for a month, we confirmed improvements in stress and depression."
CEO Song particularly sees digital therapeutics playing a role in treating degenerative brain diseases, which are rapidly increasing due to aging. He emphasized, "Thanks to electrical and electronic technology and digital artificial intelligence (AI) technology, disease treatment technologies that were impossible in the past are being developed," and stated, "If more attention is given to and applied digital therapeutics for degenerative brain diseases, it will open a new horizon in medicine."
