Kakao Enterprise announced on the 11th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, Jeonju University, and Ato Research to establish and operate the Jeonbuk Kakao Cloud Digital Innovation Center and foster a digital ecosystem.
The MOU signing ceremony held at the Jeonbuk Provincial Government Office was attended by Kim Kwan-young, Governor of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province; Lee Kyung-jin, CEO of Kakao Enterprise; Park Jin-bae, President of Jeonju University; Lee Hae-won, Vice President of Industry-Academia Cooperation; and Jung Jae-woong, CEO of Ato Research.
Through this agreement, a Digital Innovation Center will be opened within the Jeonju University STAR Center to establish a cooperative system for nurturing talent and creating a digital ecosystem within the province. The Digital Innovation Center is expected to serve as a hub for enhancing the expertise of university students interested in IT, job seekers, and current employees in the province, as well as connecting them with IT companies inside and outside the province for employment opportunities.
Kakao Enterprise will provide education and startup support programs for talent development and support the capacity building of IT and software companies in the province. Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province will provide administrative support necessary for the establishment and operation of the Digital Innovation Center and assist in discovering collaborative projects. Jeonju University will provide office and lecture spaces for the establishment and operation of the Digital Innovation Center, create infrastructure such as networks, organize dedicated support teams, and activate educational programs. Ato Research will be responsible for data center platform education and linking trainees with employment opportunities.
This agreement was made as an extension of the ‘Digital Innovation Ecosystem Creation and Jeonbuk International Complex Financial Center Development’ MOU signed last November with 15 public institutions, companies, and universities including Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and Jeonju City.
CEO Lee stated, "Based on Kakao Cloud, we are supporting the digital transformation led by Jeonbuk Province and collaborating with local governments, regional companies, and universities to create successful cases," adding, "The cooperation among industry, academia, and government will successfully complete digital innovation through the cloud and serve as a foundation for regional development."
