"The suspect's target appears to be former President Moon"
"News and investigation details acted as triggers"
Regarding the incident where an employee was indiscriminately assaulted at Pyeongsan Bookstore operated by former President Moon Jae-in, Go Mi-jeong, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "The prosecution's investigation and various news reports have acted as stimulants to the suspect."
On the 11th, Go stated on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' "More investigation is needed to know for sure, but circumstantially, the suspect's target is former President Moon," adding that the recent prosecution investigations and various news related to former President Moon have served as a stimulant to the suspect.
The board of directors of Pyeongsan Bookstore expressed concern the day before, stating, "We cannot help but express concern that the timing of the outrageous insults directed at the former president and his family coincides with the (assault incident)." Go mentioned Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Bae Hyun-jin, a member of the People Power Party, saying, "People who are continuously in the media spotlight inevitably become targets." She believes that the negative image formed around former President Moon has acted as a catalyst for such incidents.
Go said, "During the height of misogyny issues, there were also many assaults against women," adding, "Therefore, the news is important. I believe everyone has a responsibility."
Meanwhile, regarding the launch of the 'Former Regime Political Oppression Countermeasures Committee,' composed of pro-Moon (pro-Moon Jae-in) and pro-Lee (pro-Lee Jae-myung) faction members of the Democratic Party of Korea, Go said, "It would be good if former President Moon Jae-in, who can be considered the greatest politician, and Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, join hands and fight strongly, becoming a 'bulletproof shield for the people' to protect the powerless citizens."
While Chu Kyung-ho, floor leader of the People Power Party, criticized the 'Former Regime Political Oppression Countermeasures Committee' as a bulletproof alliance, Go countered by calling it a 'bulletproof alliance for the people.' Regarding this, Go said, "There must be something to protect the people." She criticized, "It is difficult to even list all the issues such as the medical crisis and media oppression. Even when trying to block problematic appointments through parliamentary confirmation hearings, all are appointed. Even when trying to block by law, the president exercises veto power."
