The Dementia Safety Center in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul announced on the 11th that its fixed memory cafe, 'Bangapdabang,' received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award for an excellent dementia program and won the Excellence Award in the dementia awareness short-form contest.
The fixed memory cafe 'Bangapdabang' was recognized for its contribution to supporting social activities and fostering positive perceptions of dementia through barista activities involving dementia patients. The short-form contest was awarded under the theme "Safe from Dementia, Dementia Safety Center."
On the 5th, at the 17th Dementia Overcoming Day commemorative event held at Jangchung Gymnasium, 20 dementia patients and their families from Eunpyeong-gu performed a chorus of "Hollo Arirang" and an opening stage with kalimba music.
A representative from the Dementia Center said, "As a result of our collective efforts to overcome dementia, we have achieved valuable outcomes. We will continue to do our best to create a dementia-friendly Eunpyeong-gu where dementia patients, their families, and local residents can live without worry and with peace of mind."
Kim Mi-kyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong-gu, stated, "I hope that dementia patients, their families, and local residents will come together to eliminate prejudice against dementia and form a social consensus for overcoming dementia."
