Busan City, KB Financial Group, and Korea Enterprises Federation Sign MOU to Support 'Small Business Parenting Support Package'

Agreement Ceremony at City Hall at 4:40 PM on the 11th... Attended by Mayor Park Hyungjoon, KB Financial Group Chairman Yang Jonghee, and Korea Enterprises Federation Officials

In November... Support for Substitute Labor Costs for Small Business Owners on Parental Leave, Childcare Service Assistance, and Housing Support for Parents

On the afternoon of the 11th at 4:40 PM, the city of Busan will sign a "Support Agreement for the Childcare Encouragement Package for Small Business Owners in Busan" with KB Financial Group and the Federation of Korean Industries at the International Protocol Room of City Hall.

The signing ceremony will be attended by Mayor Park Hyungjoon, KB Financial Group Chairman Yang Jonghee, and Federation of Korean Industries Head of Sustainable Growth Division Lee Sangyoon, who will sign the agreement in person.

This agreement was established to actively address the low birth rate issue by utilizing financial support from KB Financial Group and to create a stable environment for childbirth and childcare for small business owners who are outside the scope of existing childbirth and childcare support systems.

Through this agreement, the city will promote the "Childcare Encouragement Package Support Project for Small Business Owners"; KB Financial Group will provide 3 billion KRW in project funding and carry out project promotions; and the Federation of Korean Industries will offer network support related to the project, small business consulting, and promotional campaigns.

The "Childcare Encouragement Package Support Project for Small Business Owners," jointly promoted by the three organizations, consists of three programs: ① support for substitute labor costs during childbirth and childcare for small business owners and their employees, ② support for small business owners' child care services, and ③ childcare encouragement funds for small business owners without housing.

Unlike office workers, small business owners do not have concepts such as maternity or parental leave, and childbirth and childcare can lead to a suspension of their livelihoods. This project is being promoted with consideration for the unique circumstances of small business owners, so that they can balance childbirth, childcare, and their work with peace of mind.

After the agreement is signed, the project will go through a preparation period, including designing eligibility requirements and support amounts, and is scheduled to be fully implemented in November.

The "Support for Substitute Labor Costs for Small Business Owners (or Spouses) during Childbirth or Employees' Maternity/Parental Leave" and "Childcare Encouragement Funds for Small Business Owners without Housing" projects will be carried out by the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, while the "Support for Small Business Owners' Child Care Services" will be implemented around November by the Busan Women's Family and Lifelong Education Promotion Agency (Busan Child Care Support Center).

Detailed information regarding the project will be available through future project announcements from the city and the implementing agencies.

Mayor Park Hyungjoon stated, "I sincerely thank KB Financial Group and the Federation of Korean Industries for joining us in supporting small business owners who are facing not only management crises due to the economic downturn but also the difficulties of childbirth and childcare," adding, "Through the 'Childcare Encouragement Package Support Project for Small Business Owners,' I hope that small business owners in our city can maintain a balanced life at home and at work, and raise their children in a safe and supportive environment."
