Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that from September 10 to 12, it is carrying out the ‘Special Meal Delivery for Chuseok’ project targeting 200 middle-aged and older single-person households vulnerable to care within the region.

Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the district planned this meal delivery project to help care-vulnerable groups and elderly living alone, who find it difficult to prepare meals themselves, feel the warmth of the holiday.

The ‘Special Meal Delivery for Chuseok’ is a specialized project promoted through the Love Fruit Songpa Sharing Network public contest. It involves visiting single-person households with weak care support systems to check on their well-being and identify those in need of the Care SOS project and welfare services.

Previously, the district provided samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) to vulnerable groups who endured the hot summer during the Boknal (the hottest days of summer). Some elderly recipients expressed their gratitude, saying, “I was glad to meet someone who came to visit,” and “Eating samgyetang gave me strength.”

This time, together with two Songpa-gu Care SOS meal delivery service providers (Kkomirotte, Natural Medicinal Herb Research Institute), the district will deliver special Chuseok meals to 200 elderly people vulnerable to care in the area.

The special meal, prepared with wishes for a rich Chuseok holiday, consists of braised pork ribs, beef radish soup, three kinds of seasoned vegetables including chwinamul (Aster scaber), gosari (bracken fern), and doraji (bellflower root), glutinous rice, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and dongtaejeon (pollock pancakes).

Staff will visit the elderly’s homes to deliver the meals and spend time communicating to listen to any difficulties they may have in daily life. The results of the well-being checks will be shared with the local community center to provide additional support through the Care SOS project and various welfare services.

An elderly recipient of the special Chuseok meal delivery service expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for creating an unforgettable warm holiday.”

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “There are many people around us who need warm kindness and care. I hope this event will serve as a stepping stone to eliminate blind spots in care and connect various welfare services such as the Care SOS project. We will continue to discover welfare recipients and expand support to create an inclusive city Songpa where no one is left behind.”
