Daemungu (District Mayor Ilpihyung Lee) received a letter of appreciation from Dongdaemun Police Station on the 5th for the contribution of Mr. A, who works at the CCTV Integrated Control Center, in capturing a suspect of attempted murder.

At around 3:40 a.m. on August 26, the Dongdaemun Police Station situation room requested the CCTV Integrated Control Center to track a suspect who stabbed the victim in the chest with a weapon in an alley and fled.

Operator Mr. A quickly analyzed 15 nearby CCTVs based on the suspect's description to identify the suspect's escape route. Mr. A confirmed the suspect entering a nearby motel and immediately relayed this information to the police. Thanks to the prompt and detailed monitoring, the suspect was arrested in the act.

The Dongdaemun-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety by utilizing about 3,000 closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) in the area. Through real-time monitoring, it recorded achievements in resolving ▲5,695 cases in 2023 ▲3,812 cases from January to August 2024. These achievements include the five major violent crimes, minor offenses, juvenile delinquency, and finding missing persons.

Ilpihyung Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “The CCTV Integrated Control Center plays an important role in crime prevention and suspect capture,” and added, “We will continue to install additional CCTVs and strengthen the operation of the control center so that residents can live safely 24 hours a day.”
