Choi Ho-gwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District Office, attended the ‘Yeongdeungpo Night Forest Touring Expedition’ held at Yeoui Saetgang Ecological Park on the afternoon of the 10th and enjoyed a forest exploration with residents.
Forest touring is a forest experience and exploration activity where participants use maps and compasses to pass through designated points within a set time and return to the starting point. It is an ‘urban ecological experience program’ enjoyed in waterfront spaces, conducted as part of the 2024 Yeongdeungpo Nature Ecology Experience Classroom.
Thirty families with elementary school children participated in this forest exploration. Prior theoretical education was provided, and 15 forest interpreters accompanied the participants to ensure residents’ safety.
Additionally, special side events such as traditional games enjoyed in the forest and a wish lantern lighting ceremony were held to celebrate Chuseok, Korea’s largest traditional holiday.
Choi Ho-gwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District Office, said, “I hope that through this exploration, you personally feel the wonderful nature of Saetgang Ecological Park and create unforgettable memories with your families.” He added, “We will continue to do our best to develop nature experience programs utilizing various waterfront spaces in the region, such as Anyangcheon and Dorimcheon.”
