A man in his 20s who assaulted a female employee at Pyeongsan Bookstore in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, operated by former President Moon Jaein, has been arrested.
On the afternoon of the 10th at around 2:30 p.m., Ulsan District Court conducted a pretrial detention hearing for the man, identified as A, and issued an arrest warrant, citing concerns about flight risk and destruction of evidence.
A is accused of repeatedly assaulting a female bookstore employee in her 40s at Pyeongsan Bookstore at around 6:50 p.m. on the 8th.
This incident occurred on the same day that Lee Jaemyung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited former President Moon Jaein's residence in Pyeongsan Village, Yangsan.
A allegedly assaulted the employee with his fists and feet after she asked him to leave because the bookstore's business hours, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., had ended.
During this incident, he reportedly demanded to meet former President Moon Jaein.
Police, responding to the report, arrested A at the scene and placed him in a detention center, investigating his motive for the crime and applying for an arrest warrant on the 9th.
The Pyeongsan Bookstore board issued a statement on the 10th, the day of the warrant review, demanding a thorough investigation, stating, "The victim's left arm, ribs, and spine were fractured, and there was severe swelling on the back of her head."
