Dongdaemun-gu Signs Business Agreement with Kyung Hee University and Sewing Association to Revitalize Fashion Sewing Industry

On the 10th, Kyung Hee University Holds Agreement Ceremony with 3 Sewing Associations... Joining Forces to Expand Work Opportunities for Sewing Companies and Enhance Practical Skills of Kyung Hee Students

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) signed an agreement on September 10th with Kyung Hee University and three local sewing associations to revitalize the fashion sewing industry.


Attendees at the signing ceremony included Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, Eunlim Ji, Vice President of Kyung Hee University Seoul Campus, Byeongchae Jang, President of the DDM Fashion Sewing Industry Federation, Soonki Lee, President of the Dongdaemun-gu Clothing Sewing Industry Federation, and Pyeongui Song, Chairman of the Dongdaemun-gu Fashion Sewing Development Industry Council.


In August, Dongdaemun-gu held two meetings with the Department of Clothing and Textiles at Kyung Hee University to discuss ways to revitalize the fashion sewing industry. Various ideas were proposed during the meetings, including understanding the status of sewing companies, promotion strategies, discovering young sewing companies, and expanding work opportunities for sewing companies.

The district signed this multilateral business agreement to concretize the ideas discussed in the meetings and strengthen cooperation among the institutions.


According to the agreement, each institution will cooperate to support the development of Dongdaemun-gu's fashion sewing industry and enhance Kyung Hee University students' practical skills and employment and entrepreneurship capabilities. Kyung Hee University will be responsible for overall project execution and evaluation, while Dongdaemun-gu will provide support.


Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “I am pleased that Kyung Hee University and local sewing associations have come together to revitalize the fashion sewing industry through this agreement. We will create various opportunities to invigorate the local economy and improve the practical skills of Kyung Hee University students.”
