Pohang City Appoints Seo Jaewon, Former Pohang City Council Chairman, as New Policy Advisor

Former Five-Term City Council Member with Excellent Political Acumen and Extensive Network

Appointed as Investment Policy Specialist for New Growth Industry Policy and Investment Environment Improvement

Pohang City announced on the 10th that Seo Jaewon (65), former chairman of the Pohang City Council, has been appointed as the new Senior Political Affairs Advisor.

Seo, who was appointed as the new Senior Political Affairs Advisor on this day, is evaluated as having deep insight into local issues directly related to citizens' lives, having served as a Pohang city council member in the 3rd to 5th and 7th to 8th terms.

He is also expected to play a role in expanding Pohang City's external reach and facilitating communication and public relations with citizens, as a veteran in local politics with political acumen and a human network built over 20 years in the Pohang City Council.

Seo served as the chairman of the 8th Pohang City Council in the first half of 2018, and was also elected and served as the chairman of the Gyeongbuk City and County Council Chairmen's Association in the first half of the 8th term.

Mayor Lee Kangdeok said, "I am grateful that you have taken on this important position with a deep affection for your hometown and a great vision for regional development," and added, "Based on your experience as a five-term council member, please help serve as a bridge to the outside and contribute to balanced municipal development."

On the same day, Pohang City also appointed Ahn Jongil (42) as the new Investment Policy Specialist.

Ahn Jongil, the new Investment Policy Specialist, graduated from Barton Peveril College in the UK and is a legislative expert who has served as an aide to a National Assembly member. He will be responsible for establishing customized investment policies for new growth industries and attracting domestic and foreign corporate investments.

Ahn is expected to contribute to revitalizing Pohang's economy by developing policies to diversify the region's industries and secure growth engines for future core businesses, as well as supporting legislative efforts in the National Assembly.
