The prosecution has summarily indicted BTS member Suga on charges of riding an electric scooter while intoxicated.
On the 10th, the Criminal Division 2 of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Chu Hye-yoon) announced that Suga was summarily indicted on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving). A summary indictment is a disposition requesting the court to impose a fine or penalty without a formal trial through a written review for relatively minor offenses. The prosecution did not disclose the requested amount.
Suga was handed over to the prosecution on suspicion of riding an electric scooter while intoxicated on a street in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, at around 11:15 p.m. on the 6th of last month. At the time of the incident, Suga's blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.227%, approximately three times the license cancellation standard (0.08%).
Suga appeared for police questioning on the 23rd of last month and admitted to the charges. At that time, he told reporters, "I am reflecting and regretting," and added, "I want to sincerely apologize for causing much hurt and disappointment through my wrongful actions."
