President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 10th, "Innovative digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), bring many benefits to our daily lives and industries, but they also cause side effects that undermine human rights and democracy through fake news and deepfakes," emphasizing, "The world must unite more firmly to protect freedom and democracy."
President Yoon made these remarks while attending the 25th World Knowledge Forum held at Inspire Arena in Jung-gu, Incheon.
He pointed out, "We are currently living in a complex crisis era where geopolitical conflicts and geopolitical competition are occurring simultaneously," adding, "Authoritarian and totalitarian forces continuously challenge the norm-based international order, and wars and conflicts persist across the globe."

He continued, "The formidable military power and sophisticated weapon systems brought about by scientific and technological advances serve as means to maintain peace, but on the other hand, they also pose threats that shake the norm-based order," emphasizing, "Now is the time to think about solidarity for coexistence."
President Yoon explained, "We must join forces to resolve the threats and conflicts brought about by rapidly changing technologies and to expand human freedom and welfare through coexistence," adding, "We need to restore the power of freedom and solidarity to end wars and armed conflicts and to recover world peace."
He further stated, "We must alleviate the difficulties of vulnerable countries and groups suffering from fierce technological, hegemony, and supply chain competition, and the free world must unite more firmly to protect freedom and democracy from fake news, false propaganda, and agitation," concluding, "This is precisely why we have gathered here today."
Meanwhile, President Yoon referred to Professor Chris Miller of Tufts University, who gave a lecture on the semiconductor industry at the forum in the morning, saying, "Professor Miller's book 'Chip War' is so widely read that there is hardly anyone who hasn't read it, and I also remember reading it with great interest," adding, "The professor's insights will be an excellent lesson for entrepreneurs working on the front lines."
