The Korea Economic Association announced that its nonprofit foundation, the Small and Medium Business Cooperation Center, held the '2024 2nd Term Management Doctor Program Launch Ceremony' on the 10th at the FKI Tower in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.

The Management Doctor Program is a co-growth initiative between large and medium-sized enterprises and their partner companies, designed to resolve management difficulties and enhance competitiveness.

The Korea Economic Association Management Advisory Group provides on-site consulting for partner companies of large and medium-sized enterprises over a six-month period. Since its inception in 2007, the Management Doctor Program has provided consulting to 974 partner companies over 18 years.

The 2024 2nd Term Management Doctor Program included 10 large and medium-sized companies such as Samsung Display, POSCO Future M, Hanwha Systems, Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Solutions, Poongsan, Hyundai Transys, Yura Corporation, Korea Zinc, and Doowon Air Conditioning, along with 12 partner companies and about 70 participants including advisory committee members from the Korea Economic Association Management Advisory Group.

Participating partner companies will receive business know-how from large enterprises in areas such as overseas expansion, technology, production, quality, and human resources and labor from advisory committee members over six months until February next year.

At the launch ceremony, an excellent consulting case of Wonbang Industry, a partner company of Hyosung Chemical that participated in the 2024 1st Term Management Doctor Program, was introduced. For six months, advisory committee members Shim Hyun-sung (former director of Hyundai Motor Environmental Development Center) and Choi Kyu-min (former executive director of Hyundai Rotem) provided consulting on establishing a personnel system and production quality management for Wonbang Industry.

The committee members judged that Wonbang Industry's management stability was lacking in areas such as payroll systems and employment rules, and requested the establishment of a human resources management system. With the help of the advisory committee, Wonbang Industry established a stable organizational and labor management system by organizing the personnel and payroll system, supplementing employment documents, and revising employment rules.

The factory defect rate was also improved. The committee members suggested creating and monitoring production process record indicators such as initial production quality review, raw material input quantity, and factory temperature. Following the advice, Wonbang Industry minimized fabric production specification deviations, set and established production management standardization, and prepared detailed work instructions, thereby building a production and quality management system.

Jin Won-hyun, CEO of Wonbang Industry, said, "The solutions provided by the experienced on-site committee members became a stepping stone to improving many issues."

Center Director Choo Kwang-ho said, "Participation in the Management Doctor Program is an opportunity for small and medium enterprises to develop the capabilities to respond to changes and establish a foundation for sustainable growth," adding, "Going forward, the center will promote various support projects to help employees of small and medium enterprises adapt to new paradigms such as digital transformation and carbon neutrality."
