How About a Piece of Dikasi?… Kyungnam College of Information & Technology Produces 52 First-Class Dikasi Creation Instructors, a First in Korea

Starting from Level 4, One-Year Course Completion for Level 1

Credits Recognized for Admission to Digital Literary Creative Writing Program

Wuyishan Nine Valleys (Wuyi Guqu) are truly wonderful!

Now is the era where people compose Guquga (Nine Valleys Song) with a "Dica." The literary genre called "Dica Poetry," which combines a poem with a digital camera image, is gaining popularity.

Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Taesang) recently announced on the 10th that it held a ceremony at the university's Centum Campus Book Cafe to celebrate the completion of the Level 1 Dica Poetry Creation Instructor course.

This Dica Poetry program, led by President Kim Taesang, is a new digital literature curriculum that has been a key subject since last year. Gyeongnam Information University is the first in the nation to offer this course. Although the subject was unfamiliar, it was so popular from the first recruitment that all spots were filled.

The Dica Poetry Creation Instructor program, operated by the university's Lifelong Education Center, is structured into Level 1 through Level 4. After completing a three-month course at each level, students advance to the next, so it takes about one year to progress from Level 4 to Level 1.

The Korea Dica Poets Association also issues certificates to students who complete this program. Starting with the Level 4 course in September last year, various classes such as distinguishing good Dica poetry, Dica poetry competitions, and digital literacy were held over the year, and this time, 52 people were awarded Level 1 certification.

Jung Yuji, Director of the Lifelong Education Center, said, "It is very meaningful in itself to have completed the nation's first Level 1 Dica Poetry Creation Instructor course," and added, "Please show great interest so that Korean content consisting of five lines or fewer can be introduced to the global digital market."

Dica poetry is a compound word of "Dica" (digital camera) and "poetry," referring to digital literature that combines a photo with a poem of about five lines. Dica poetry is scheduled to be officially included in the first-year middle school Korean language textbook next year, establishing itself as a new literary genre.

Gyeongnam Information University plans to support the promotion of Dica poetry and new literary education for adult learners by recognizing major credits for those who complete the Level 1 Dica Poetry Creation Instructor course and enroll in the Department of Digital Literary Creation.
