Geumcheon-gu Government Complex Opens Convenience Store Supporting Independent Living for People with Developmental Disabilities

Geumcheon-gu Opens GS25 Geumnaerae Art Hall Branch in Government Building to Enhance Employee Welfare and Civil Service Convenience
Operated as a Vocational Training Convenience Store Supporting Independence and Welfare of Disabled Persons

Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will operate the GS25 Neulbom Store No. 7, ‘GS25 Geumnarae Art Hall Branch,’ at the district office convenience store to support the independence of people with developmental disabilities.

Neulbom Store is a vocational training convenience store for people with disabilities that provides education and employment opportunities in overall convenience store management. Starting with the opening of the first store inside Hanuri Information and Culture Center in January 2019, a total of seven stores will be in operation with the opening of the ‘GS25 Geumnarae Art Hall Branch.’

The ‘GS25 Geumnarae Art Hall Branch’ is the first convenience store located inside a district government complex in a Seoul autonomous district, operated through collaboration between Geumcheon District Office, Boramae Protected Workshop, and GS Retail.

As a community co-prosperity store, GS Retail provides convenience store consulting and technical support, while Boramae Protected Workshop is responsible for labor support for disabled workers and actual store operation and management.

The district promises continuous social welfare administrative support to help the independence of vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and will actively support GS Retail’s Neulbom Store expansion project.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I am pleased that a GS convenience store has opened inside the government building, improving employee welfare and convenience for residents using the building,” and added, “I hope the GS25 Geumnarae Art Hall Branch becomes a happy workplace that helps the independence of socially disadvantaged people and is respected as a member of society.”
