LGU+ Selects Cha Eun-woo as AX Strategy Campaign Model
Promotes AI B2C Service Iksio and U+tv
Iksio Launching in Q4... Offers Call Convenience Features
LG Uplus announced on the 10th that it has selected singer and actor Cha Eun-woo as the campaign model to promote its Artificial Intelligence Transformation (AX) strategy.
The company plans to promote AI services such as ▲ AI B2C (business-to-consumer) service 'ixi-O' ▲ AIPTV (AI+IPTV) 'U+tv' together with exclusive model Cha Eun-woo. The AI service 'ixi-O,' which provides convenient call features, is scheduled to launch in the second half of the year.
LG Uplus explained the reason for selecting the model, saying, "Cha Eun-woo's growth from an idol group member to a solo singer and then expanding into acting aligns with LG Uplus's new slogan 'Growth Leading AX Company,' which signifies growing together with customers beyond traditional telecommunications into AX." Additionally, he ranked first in the boy group individual category in the brand reputation announced last month by the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute.
Cha Eun-woo is partnering with LG Uplus for the second time, following his role as the model for LG Uplus's 5G brand ‘U+5G’ in 2019. At that time, he gained attention by introducing the ‘Star Date’ content, which allowed one-on-one dates with stars through augmented reality (VR).
LG Uplus plans to build its AX corporate image by conducting an integrated marketing communication (IMC) campaign with Cha Eun-woo and provide differentiated experiences to users through limited edition goods and content curation.
Cha Eun-woo said, "As an actual LG Uplus family bundle customer and a 20s brand 'Youth' customer, I feel deeply moved to be selected as a model again after five years."
Jung Hye-yoon, Head of Marketing Group (Executive Director) at LG Uplus, said, "Both Cha Eun-woo and LG Uplus have been experiencing high growth for over five years since 2019, and we are pleased to reconnect. We will create a positive image of LG Uplus with a model who has high favorability across all generations."
Meanwhile, Lee Jae-won, Head of MX Digital Innovation Group, stated during the Q2 earnings conference call, "We are preparing services that apply AI not only to integrated convenience services, which telecom companies excel at, but also to the call domain to provide differentiated experiences," and revealed plans to launch ixi-O in the fourth quarter to target the AI personal assistant market.
