A story has emerged about hundreds of ants coming out of a croissant-shaped light purchased from the Chinese e-commerce platform Temu.
Recently, a foreign netizen shared a video titled "Temu, pls explain temu" on their TikTok account. In the approximately 1 minute and 26 seconds long video, the person was holding a croissant in one hand and appeared to be standing in what seemed to be their backyard. Mr. A said that after placing the croissant light he received as a gift in his room, ants swarmed around it. He said, "I came home after work on a very hot day, and hundreds of ants were gathered around this light."
Startled, Mr. A dug a bit larger hole made by the ants and discovered that the inside of the light actually looked like a croissant. He said, "The ants drilled holes into the croissant and went inside," adding, "It really looked like a croissant pastry." When Mr. A cut the light in half, pieces that looked like bread crumbs fell out.
Mr. A raised suspicions that the light might have been made from unsold croissants. After removing the inside of the light and eating it, he was amazed, saying, "It really is a croissant." The video became a hot topic on TikTok, garnering nearly 14 million views.
Foreign netizens who saw the video reacted with comments such as "Why do people still buy products from Temu?", "Why eat a light that ants were eating? I'm worried about health," "Ridiculous light," and "Temu, please explain this light."
Meanwhile, there are cases where actual bread is used to make lights. Yukiko Morita from Japan processes real bread such as croissants, sliced bread, and baguettes to make lamps and sells them. However, it seems that the croissant light sold on Temu had insufficient internal processing of the bread.
