Mayor Kim Kyung-hee is delivering a congratulatory speech at the completion ceremony of the road expansion construction between Mojon and Doji held on the 9th. Gyeonggi Icheon City (Mayor Kim Kyung-hee) held a completion ceremony on the 9th for the road expansion and widening construction (City Route 2) between Mojon and Doji, connecting the local road No. 70 at Mojon-ri, Baeksa-myeon, and the Seongnam~Janghowon automobile-only road Doji intersection.
This road has been causing inconvenience to nearby residents due to the ongoing construction of apartments and multi-family housing, as well as development projects in the area. Additionally, with the opening of the Seongnam~Janghowon automobile-only road, the number of vehicles using the Doji intersection has increased, leading to severe congestion during commuting hours. Therefore, the expansion of this road was a long-awaited project for the residents.
Accordingly, Icheon City invested a total project cost of 31.3 billion KRW and has been carrying out the road expansion and widening construction since April 2020, extending 3.0 km in length and widening from 20 m (2 lanes) to 4 lanes.
Icheon City expects that this opening will not only alleviate traffic inconveniences for residents but also greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy by reducing logistics costs through the establishment of a connected road network.
Mayor Kim Kyung-hee said, “This project was a representative long-awaited task in Baeksa-myeon, and we have eagerly awaited the completion of the road.” She added, “We will continue to do our best to promote systematic road network construction projects to achieve balanced regional development and create a pleasant road environment.”
