Visit to Gwangyang Girls' High School, Encouraging Student Athletes and Officials
Kim Dae-jung, Superintendent of Education for Jeonnam, visited Gwangyang Girls' High School and other locations on the 9th to encourage student athletes about a month before the opening of the "105th National Sports Festival."
On this day, Superintendent Kim Dae-jung, along with Shin Jeong-sik, President of the Jeonnam Football Association, inspected the Gwangyang Girls' High School soccer team and cheered on the participating athletes' dreams and challenges. From Jeonnam high schools, 479 athletes from 70 schools will participate in 42 events at the "105th National Sports Festival," held for seven days starting from the 11th of next month in the Gimhae area of Gyeongnam.

This year's competition is expected to see achievements such as Gwangyang Girls' High School's girls' soccer team aiming for a second consecutive championship, Jeonnam Sports High School's female athlete Lee Eun-bin targeting a third consecutive win in the 100m sprint, and Suncheon Jeil High School's boys' volleyball team seeking a second consecutive championship. Notably, 47 students belonging to the "Jeonnam Public Sports Club" outside of school sports teams are also participating, drawing attention to their performances.
The Provincial Office of Education is promoting support measures including ▲psychological support for student athletes ▲early provision of annual operating expenses for school sports teams ▲support for vehicle rental costs for school sports teams ▲special training expenses for provincial representative athletes.
Superintendent Kim Dae-jung stated, "I send a strong round of applause for the student athletes' challenges toward their dreams," and added, "I hope they will win gold medals again this year to achieve a second consecutive championship in ball games at the National Sports Festival and widely promote the excellence of Jeonnam school sports."
He further urged, "School officials should support student athletes to perform at their best and strive to ensure safe participation in the competition."
